This is a rare collection of items to Flying officer R Geldard, he served with Squadrons 117, T.S.T.U., 271 and 46, flying in Dominies, Proctor, Blenheim IV, Hudson, Dakota and Ensign. His Log book is a fascinating reading of accounts of various sorties, supplying the 8th Army, Burma, Payagyi, Rangoon,Toungoo,and tomany. Many mentions of troop carrying and supply dropping with 117 Squadron, a full history of this Squadron can be researched on the net. He seems to have been Flying in the RAF since 9-9-1942 . Nerteravon - mentioned with T.S.T.U, Broadwell, various sticks of Paratroopers dropped in August 1945, there are to many dates to list, qualified as Wireless Op, Air Gunner, Screen Jump Master. There is also a flying Jacket, i understand this was a Light weight synthetic one purchased from a Base, its a strange material which i have not seen before. His medals are Burma star, North Africa 1942-43 bar, Italy etc and one of his farthers WW1 Medals from the Wesr Yorkshire Regt. This collection requires a lot more research, a very interesting collection of items.
