SPMF2 Squadron Leader Percival Graham Leggett AE handsigned 5 x 7 Black and white photo

Each photo measures 5" by 7" with a white border on all sides with the signature handsigned on the specially elongated bottom margin.
The photograph is from the 1939-1945 period and has been reproduced and then signed by (MF)2 - Squadron Leader Percival Graham Leggett AE. The photo is accompanied by a brief career history.
This signed photo forms part of a limited edition Battle of Britain signed Photograph Series. This is number 2 in the current series of Photographs, produced by ourselves. Each photograph has been handsigned and they are all numbered and certified on the reverse. Each photograph is a limited edition of 120.

Squadron Leader Percival Graham Leggett AE
WWII Battle of Britain Pilot

Leggett was born on February 14 1921. He joined the RAFVR in June 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot (748596). Called up on September 1, he completed his training and arrived at 5 OTU, Aston Down in September 1940. On the 18th he crash landed at Oldbury-on-Severn, Gloucestershire due to an engine failure but was unhurt.

Leggett joined 245 Squadron at Aldergrove on the 28th and then to 46 Squadron at Stapleford on October 18. He claimed a Fiat BR 20 on November 11. He was posted to 145 Squadron in late November 1940 and then to 96 Squadron, when it was formed at Cranage on December 18 1940.

In late June 1941 Leggett joined 249 Squadron in Malta. He claimed a Mc 200 destroyed on July 17. He was shot down by enemy fighters on December 21 1941, baled out and was admitted to hospital with abrasions.

He joined 73 Squadron flying night fighter Hurricanes during the Battle of Alamein going through to Tunisia. In September 1943 he commanded a Spitfire flight in the Suez Canal zone and returned to the UK in March 1944.

In August 1945 he became Adjutant to a Liberator squadron in Ceylon. Returning to the UK he joined 234 Squadron flying Meteors. After three years at HQ Fighter Command he commanded 32 Squadron flying Vampires in Cyprus and Egypt.

After three years at the Air Ministry he commanded RAF Dyce and Ouston before retiring as a Squadron Leader after twenty years of service.
