Prefab Sprout - We Let The Stars Go (Kitchenware SKX48) 1990.
Formed in County Durham by the McAloon brothers Paddy (vocals / guitar / keyboards) and Martin (bass) with Wendy Smith (vocals / guitar / keyboards), Fiona Attwood (bass) and Neil Conti (drums) from Luton. Their debut single "Lions In My Own Garden: Exit Someone (L.I.M.O.G.E.S.)" on their own self-financed label which led to being picked up by Kitchenware records and releasing the debut album "Swoon" early in 1984 reaching No.22 on the U.K. chart. the second album "Steve McQueen" was produced by Thomas Dolby, who also produced this single, reaching No.21, the third "Langley Park To Memphis" did even better in the U.K. peaking at No.5. The fourth album "Protest Songs" received limited release but still managed to chart at No.18, the next "Jordan: The Comeback" made No.7 and a compilation "A Life Of Surprises" went into the top three in 1992, five years later "Andromeda Heights" also made the top ten and 2001's "The Gunman & Other Stories" also sold well. Paddy has since released a solo album "I Trawl the Megahertz" in 2003. They also had sixteen top seventy-five single hits beginning with 1984's "Don't Sing" (featured on this 12") which made No.62, "When Love Breaks Down" made No.25 in 1985 and "King Of Rock'n'Roll" cracked the top ten at No.7 in 1988. This single charted at No.50 in 1990 and also faetures three tracks from the first album. It is housed in its original picture sleeve and plain paper liner.
