A microtome is a mechanical instrument used to cut biological specimens into very thin sections for microscopic examination. This microtome uses a steel blade to cut sections of animal or plant tissues for histology. The black glass surface plate insures smooth sectioning of material without the tendency to bite into the guide surface. The precision micrometer adjustment control allow you to cut sections to the desired thickness.
