Description: A
precision tilt measurement / monitoring kit manufactured to military
specification for the British Army by Tilt Measurement Limited. They are believed
to have been built to test alignment accuracy of the Chieftain Tank gun barrel
system. This kit comprises :
1. A
robust and high quality multi-range 6 channel analogue measurement unit.
Superbly built
throughout, it receives input signals from a maximum of 6 (3 pairs) tilt
sensors and displays the variance from level at three switcheable sensitivity
ranges, to a maximum resolution of 0.05mm per metre. The span for each range is
+ or - 0.5, 2 and 10mm per metre. The meter has an illuminated scale and the unit
is powered by either 115/230v mains supply or 20 – 28v.DC. It also has internal
rechargeable ni-cad batteries (2 off PP9).
2. Electro level sensors.
Note.
The original
equipment consisted of 3 twin electrolevel sensor units. Two of these pairs
were adjustable and in the other, the
sensors were fixed. We do have some
kits available still in this configuration, but because it was felt that this
combination was too specialised
(unless you have a Chieftain Tank of course), we have modified the
combination to provide :-
One original twin sensor unit with two micrometer threaded adjuster
screws.
The lower screw
adjusts both sensors about the same axis whilst the upper screw adjusts only
one of them. Each electrolevel can be repositioned anywhere on the common pivot
to an angle of about + or - 45degrees with respect to the base by releasing a
small locking screw.
Two separate electrolevels which have been built using the original
adjusting mechanisms onto new individual bases. These provide a neat and functional means of adjustable tilt measurement
in two planes independently. As they
have been modified the buyer should
access their suitability by inspection.
Samples can be provided.
This provides four
electrolevels in total. They are of the
type currently supplied by Tilt Measurement Ltd. as the ELH 100 although of
course in different housings. These
units have range of 1 degree and linearity of
typically 1%. Please check their
website for characteristics.
Tilt Measurement
are able to calibrate these units – please contact them directly for more
information.
Other Equipment:
Three off sensor
connecting cables with 6 way Amphenol connectors and curly cables.
One off mains
cable of similar style (this may not be suitable for industrial use but could
be modified).
One off DC
connector cable of similar style.
One off Zarges rugged
military transit case, 600mm x 400mm x 260mm approx.
Total weight 18.5kg.
Weight of
equipment only is 10kg.
Please note: The
above equipment powers up and works. I
have checked the deflection of the electrolevels with straight edges and shims
etc. and they give meter readings which appear as expected. I do not however have the capability to test
them accurately or to calibrate them.
Any potential buyer is welcome to test the equipment personally if they
wish to verify its functionality and suitability for their intended
applications.
Please note that VAT is included in the listing price. A VAT invoice will be supplied to the winner. Overseas buyers in exempt areas may be entitled to a VAT (17.5%) free transaction.
