~~The World's Best Camera Light Seal Kit Is Now Easier~~
Repair your camera's most common problem easily using the same material professional camera repairers use! Anyone can do it. Whether you call it light seal, light baffle, light trap, camera foam, camera seal, or whatever...you've found what you're searching.
All pieces are pre-cut and ready to install from the most well-known and trusted name in camera light seal worldwide. Who says it is the best? Well, you could read about it...over the past 10 years, "The Light Seal Project" and I have been written about many times in well-respected magazines and internet sites such as Amateur Photographer, Fotografare, IDCC, APUG, Nikonians, Matt Denton's site, Rick Oleson's site, Ron Herron's Mamiya site, Photo.net, Foto.ru, Classic Camera Repair Forum, Camera-fix, NelsonFoto, RangefinderForum, Tom Tiger's Zenit site, The Yashica Guy, Flickr, Nikon MF group, Olympus XA group and numerous others. In fact, I'm proud and happy to tell you the kits and I were just featured again in the 125th Anniversary Issue of Amateur Photographer. They gave the kits a 5 out of a possible 5 star rating! Buy an issue at a newstand close to you and read about it.
~~There is simply no substitute for quality~~
And you and your camera deserve the best!
These high precision products are manufactured to my specifications by companies who have proven their excellence over time, and only their finest products meet my professional standards. The foam I sell has been proven for over 40 years. It has to be the best to be used in my cameras, and you should not settle for less.
~~Instructions~~
I believe I've written more than anyone, and some have been translated into 8 languages, now including Finnish! You can see some of what I've written here:
http://www.kyphoto.com/classics/sealreplacement.html
Important Note: if you have purchased light seal material from any person or seller who has directed you to my instruction site for instructions in re-sealing your camera or mailed you photocopies of instructions found at the site above, please contact me and tell me the actual name, seller ID, physical address and email address of that person.
Please don't be fooled by imitators. Common sense tells you to trust the proven sellers. I own this operation, and there are only two other people in the world authorized to sell my material. One lives in Germany and his ID is Camerasolution. One lives in Wales and his ID is Fatluckdigi. One of these people has been a partner with me 7 years...longer than many sellers have been on E-Bay.
This kit will allow you to re-seal the Minolta XE cameras (XE, XE-1, XE-5 and XE-7). How about the Leica R-3? Maybe...they were companion cameras. Hopefully some alert shopper can tell me if those body styles were the same as respects light seal design. If you know the answer, click on these words and magically be transported to a place where you can send me an eMail message. Put Leica R-3 in the subject line, please.
These are all excellent cameras, and this kit will have yours like new again!
I will list many more pre-cut kits on eBay soon, and if you have a camera you want me to make a pre-cut kit for, please contact me and we will discuss the possibilities. Below you can see the seal pieces you'll get in this kit:
~~A few words about the mirror damper~~
Minolta engineers had a penchant for installing thin metal baffle plates in front of the focus screen. In some models this can be removed to service the mirror damper, and I show you how to do that from a repairman's point of view. In those cameras where removal of that plate will require work which is too invasive (such as the XE series), the best advice is to leave the damper pad alone. As Clint Eastwood / Dirty Harry once said "a man's got to know his limitations."
~~Keeping the world "Greener"~~
Everybody talks about that, but the precision-cut seal pieces using the dies, cutters and templates I've engineered and made minimize waste greatly. Everything in the kits except the foam and self-adhesive fabric pieces is 100% biodegradable. Are you concerned about the planet, too? Cast your vote for environmental responsibility by purchasing this kit. Al Gore will be proud of you.
Cost of mailing? $1. That is right. No matter where you live, the cost is $1. One buck. One simolean. One greenback. That's all you'll pay.
Important note:
When it comes to camera repair / maintenance, buying the proper light seal material is of great importance. In fact, buying the wrong material is not only a colossal waste of money but also a needless mistake that could cause permanent damage to your camera.
~~You and your camera deserve the highest quality~~
The foam used in my kits is all made for me by the same manufacturer, and that is very important. Consistency and high quality is necessary to do a professional job...any engineer knows that. You will realize the excellence of my foam the minute you feel it, and you will never forget this foam. To be certain I have any thickness a camera might need, here is a lineup of the materials I have made:
~Tiny Bubbles!~ For a more perfect camera sealing foam, you need three things: Tiny Bubbles, Ease of Compression, and quick recovery after compression. And my foam has it all! Take a very close look:
~The Free Tool~ There are two working ends to this simple but handy little tool, designed years ago from input and suggestions of customers and made with a machine I created. It allows you to clean and work on your camera more easily and with less danger of damaging paint.
This simple tool has been copied by people all over the world, but there is no substitute for the original.
What Comes With The Kit?
- the film door hinge seal
- two "Seal Strips"-- non-adhesive strips I created which are used to seal the long thin body slots
