Ca. 300-600 AD

Vera Cruz standing Female Dignitary Figure features a beautifully rendered face, with an open mouth with individualize teeth, very large lips, large aquiline nose, sharp featured eyes & brow line. 

Beautifully made: Solid hand-formed pottery of the early Classic--not mold made as found in later Classic/Post-Classic.

The figure stands frontally with arms outstretched and wears a headdress with a chin strap and collar, ear spools and large discs at each foot.  Forehead and cheek area features a striking shiny black bitumen painted detail.

Condition: repaired from two pieces, loss to arms and a few chips.

Hand formed of warm buff Pottery.
