Beautiful Mayan Nopiloa Priest Figure Classic Period, Ca. 500-800 AD. Vera Cruz, Mexico
Lovely large size hollow molded figure of a Standing Priest. He stands frontally with hands raised at shoulders with palm side facing.
The dignitary is characterized by his regal countenance; a tunic with decorated wide collar cape like feature and a tall elaborate headdress. Much white pigment remains and face still exhibits it reddish/pink pigment. Rattle feature is functioning. Beautiful piece with excellent eye appeal.
Material: Hollow molded red-buff pottery with white and pink pigments. Condition: Small hole below chin filled, else intact and excellent. Height: 5-3/4 in. (14.5 cm). Ex Collection of Imre and Nicholas T. Molnar.
