Here is a delightful female standing figure of the rare and desirable “Fan-Head” type, wearing multiple ear-ornaments, a broad nose-ring, multiple arm bracelets, a carefully-painted beadwork necklace and garment details.This charming figure is depicted with arms looped, hands resting on her abdomen just below her breasts. Details painted with orange, brown and cream pigments and ample manganese dioxide deposits provide incontrovertible evidence of prolonged interment.This whimsical figure is 6.25" (16 cm) tall, 4" (10 cm) wide, 2" (5 cm) front-to-back, and aside from insignificant toe-and-heel restoration, in excellent overall condition. Ixtlán de Río, Nayarit, Mexico, Protoclassic Period, 200 B.C. - A.D. 300.Provenance: acquired in 1976 by the seller at the prestigious Sotheby Parke-Bernet Galleries in New York City.This figure is unconditionally guaranteed to be genuine in writing.
