PortaPow USB Battery Pack

This is a battery pack which uses a 3400mAh battery to power your portable gadgets and charge them at the same time. It can be plugged into the power socket like its normal power adaptor to dramatically increase runtime, for example adding 20 hours talktime to your iPhone or 100 hours audio to your iPod. This is 110% more than the FreeLoader Pro Solar Charger which uses a 1600mAh battery.

Note this pack is not compatible with the iPhone 3GS or the 2nd/3rd gen iPod touch, we will be releasing a compatible version in November 2009.

So this doesn't use a solar panel?

No it doesnt, you'll need to charge the pack before you go. Our testing has shown that the small solar panels which are typically supplied with 'solar chargers' will take 2-4 weeks left outside to fully charge our high capacity battery, so we've taken the sensible approach of creating a product which can be charged indoors in 5 hours. To see how well solar panels perform in real life situations, click here.

How does it work?

Use the retractable USB cable supplied to charge the battery pack from a USB socket or AC adaptor. Then connect your device to the battery pack, push the button to activate the pack and charge it up where ever you are.

How much battery life will it provide?

On top of the runtime provided by your gadget's built in battery, you can expect to

- fully charge an iPhone twice (20 hours extra talktime over 2G, 10 hours talktime on 3G, 600 hours standby, 20 hours video, 60 hours audio playback)

- an iPod classic four times (100+ hours audio, 30 hours video)

- a mobile phones can be charged 3-4 times, SatNavs 1-2 times, and other mp3 players 2-4 times

To achieve this the pack features a 3400mAh capacity battery. Compare this to the Freeloader Pro (1500mAh) or the Power Monkey eXplorer (2200mAh).

Compatible devices

Since the pack features a USB socket, it can charge the thousands of devices which charge over USB. In addition, the retractable USB Charger cable comes with 9 interchangeable tips to extend the range of devices even further, allowing you to power many phones, PDAs, digital cameras, GPS navigators and mp3/video players. We also have available a nintendo DS lite connector, contact us if you would like this included free with your order.
