suitable for older power macs including G3 G4 with OSX 10.4 up as this is IDE not sata, and also new mac pros "with IDE buss " for CDR / DVD drives .

FULLY WORKING ORDER

drive removed from late 2005 quad G5

the drive burns DVD and CD , and works with all apple software on OSX including itunes , idvd , toast , disk copy etc

this is now a rare part to find

it is designed so the door on G5 models can open with out hitch , "Door for DVD drive slot . "

the drive is as th picture , but with out the drive drawl plate , this was never included for the G5 quad installation

The Hitachi / LG GWA-4165B is a DL burner which writes 16x DVD+R/-R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW und 4x DVD+/-R DL, 40x CD-R and 32x CD-RW. According to this site (http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/am...articles/quad/) it can be flashed with Hitachi-LG DL04 firmware in order to write 3x DVD-RAM.

USE IN A MAC OR HACKINTOSH It is very likely that it is some other LG drive whose only name was changed in the firmware to be "fully supported by Apple's Apps". This is not unusual as Apple once before renamed the Pio 108 as Pio 117 in their earlier G5 powermacs.
