Pot Lid Jar Collection Magician - Fully Featured Image Database...
Compatible with most newer versions of Windows...
Computer Requirements - Pentium 3 or above, with Memory of 256mb or above...
Hard Disk Space Requirement of around 25-50mb or above (though the initial install is only around 1.50mb).
Tested on Windows XP Home (Sp2), XP Professional 2002 (Sp2) Windows 2000 (Sp4), but should also run on most other versions Windows (including Vista)
This MS Access Database needs MS Access 2000 (9.0.3821 SR1 or a higher release) loaded onto your Computer to run it. If you don't have MS Access, then you may be able to download a Runtime version from off the Internet, I recommend this is done Prior to Bidding on this Software, just in case you do have any difficulty in obtaining it.
I found a version of MS Access 2000 Runtime on the internet, that's how I tested the Program on an old Pentium 2, running Windows 2000 (Sp4)
Note. If you bid and win the Collection Magician you Must pay for it (as eBay will charge me!) so remember, if you are at all unsure, ask (using the "Ask Seller Button" ) for a "Trial Version" so you can test it will load and run onto your Computer before you commit to buy from me. The "Trial Version" will only allow 5 records to be entered, before you hit usage restrictions.
Key Features...
-
Popup window for quick, simple, image Selection / Insertion. A few clicks and your image is inserted...
-
Several image types are supported, .jpg , .bmp and .gif Upto 5 Images may be "Attached" per record
-
The Large Database capacity, I stress tested to generate over 25,000 entries and would have gone further, but for lack of time. I'm sure the limit must run into 500,000+ mark, (subject to the Hard Disk space available on your PC). Please note, Images are "Attached" not embedded, this is much more efficient and keeps the Database size down to a minimum.
-
Suitable for all types of Pottery Lid and Jar Collectables: "Prattware" Pratt ware etc Very easy to enter Categories / Types for: Fish Paste , Tooth Paste , Creams, Ointments etc.The list is virtually endless for the types you can create.
-
Zoom Button for use on All "Attach"ed Images, this will either grow or shrink the displayed image depending on its current state/size. NB. This is effectively a "Digital" Zoom, so there is no need to keep two sets of (Large and Small) images for each item.
-
Search / Find your records by Search key, Description Index, Browsing via a Sorted Index Details screen (with the option of Repositioning, to a chosen record).
-
Website Searching, by using two dedicated (and configurable) Search Buttons (Search Website One / Two) These enable you to quickly fire up an Internet Explorer session etc.and search for details you have entered in one of several (User-Defined) fields.
-
An "UnDo" Button has been provided to allow for Undoing changes to the Current Record, this will become active when a change to the Current Record has been detected, it is useful for quickly Undoing changes.
-
Duplicate record Button is provided to aid Fast Data Entry...
-
Quick updating of the Drop-Down Table Fields - just a Double-Click and the chosen Table will be shown in an Add/Update mode (they can also be maintened via the Menu System, for initial setup purposes...). Each of the DropDown Tables contains a few Commonly Used sample entries, you simply make any "additions" or "changes" to meet your own personal requirements...
-
Default record sequence of: Category, Desc, Type, Year, Country and Unit/Short Description... Each time the program is opened it is Sorted. There is also Sort Collection Button provided to allow for re-sorting the collection on Demand.
-
Help Text, whilst this has not been implemented at a low "Story Book" level, most of the fields do have "Mouse-Over" Tips, these define field useage, and entry requirement details.
-
Display Collection Report and PrintOut Collection (Hardcopy) Nb. these are Full Collection Reports showing the Key (most important) Information only. Some fields are truncated to fit on the Report Page and thus reduce paper usage to an acceptable level. As this is primarily an Interactave, not Paper-based, solution. Reports, whether Displayed or Hardcopy-Printed, both show overall Report Totals.
-
Sample data... Included with the program are 1 or 2 sample records and an Image or two. These are there to help you get a feel for the software and can very easily be deleted when they are no longer needed...
-
Screen fields contents are sometimes slightly larger or smaller than they may appear, this has been done to help enhance cosmetic appearance. If a particular field length is of interest then please ask and I will do my best to advise on its actual length. Nb. I will not undertake changes to field lengths for this program. If you need a "Bespoke" version then please use the eBay "Ask Seller a Question" button to make any enquiries, I may be able to help...
-
Record and Collection Totals... You will see that "Totals" have been provided at Record (Item) level and a Running Total for the Entire Collection. These Totals enable the user to see the overall Cost and Sale Values for the Item and Collection. There is also the option of keeping a Valuation at Item and at Collection Level. Nb. All the Total fields that appear in Grey are "Automatically" Calculated by the program on change of either a releted field or record.
-
As would be expected with a Powerful piece of software, such as MS Access, several other useful processes exist for Data Exporting to Excel Spreadsheets etc. Record Filtering is also available on the Main Screen (very useful for limiting the data displayed, allowinf Drill Down on Year, Desc, etc.)

The Collection Magician programs were developed on a low spec'd Pentium 4 PC to ensure ease of running on most Machines. Although this program was been tested on a Pentium 2, with 128mb Ram, it is advised that you run it on a Pentium 3 or above. A Standard or Widescreen Flat panel Monitor of at least 17" should be used. The higher screen the resolution the better.
-
