ON OFFER from storage is a working portable sound-activated security alarm made some years ago and still fully functional. It was popular in the 1980s with service industries that required occasional short-term protection for a room. It would be very useful for an outhouse or garage. 

The alarm is activated when sound is picked up, the sound level sensitivity being set by a control and the level shown on a row of eight LEDs. The key-activated instrument has a three-position keyswitch - off, test, arm - together with an exit-arm switch and a control for adjusting the exit time. Two further LEDs are labelled mains-battery and exit-arm. I tested it with the sound sensitivity set at 4, and a rattle of keys set it off with a loud siren and bright flash. I havn't actually used the exit-arm function.

Named 'The Custodian', it has the model number Keyco KC2000 and is Britsh made. 

Collect by arrangement, from Safestore 89 Pentonville Rd, N1 9LG (junction with Amwell St), evenings and weekend included. Forecourt parking, no congestion charge. Storage is free for 3 days, after which £1 a day.
