Reproduction of Political Cartoon By Clifford Kennedy Berryman
This is a reproduction on good quality heavyweight (220gsm) paper of a political cartoon of President Roosevelt. The cartoon measures 8½ inches by 9 inches approx. The original cartoon was drawn by Berryman in 1906. Berryman was responsible for the association of Roosevelt with the teddy bear.

In November 1902 Roosevelt took part in a bear hunt in Mississippi. He came upon a bear that had been injured by the hunt dogs. He initially refused to shoot it, but later ordered it killed to save it from unnecessary suffering. The Washington Post ran a cartoon by Berryman illustrating the event. Toymaker Morris Michtom began making toy bears to sell. He sent one to Roosevelt asking for permission to use his name. Roosevelt agreed, thus associating the president with bears in perpetuity.
