POLDARK is the beloved BBC miniseries set against the stormy sociopolitical backdrop of 18th-century England. The year is 1780, and Captain Ross Poldark has just returned to Cornwall from his battles in the American War. He hopes to settle down with his inheritance and his beloved Elizabeth, but false reports of his death preceded his arrival, resulting in heartbreaking circumstances. In addition, Poldark must also contend with his fetching new housekeeper and the family copper mines which threaten to fall into the hands of his greatest archenemy.
SERIES 1 VOLUME 1
Welcome to Cornwall, England's westernmost county. The year is 1780, and the political and social atmosphere is as stormy as the sea that pounds the rocky shores. Into this landscape, Captain Ross Poldark (Robin Ellis) returns from the American war to take up his inheritance and take up with his beloved Elizabeth (Jill Townsend). But with false reports of his death having reached Cornwall ahead of him, what will he find? And what of the young urchin Demelza (Angharad Rees), the new house keeper at Nampara? Can she console the heart-broken Ross? And just who is the father of her unborn child? features the first half of Series One of Poldark.

SERIES 2 VOLUME 2
The second half of the acclaimed second series of the classic BBC drama. Welcome to Cornwall, near the turn of the nineteenth century, where an air of celebration pervades. However, even as Admiral Lord Nelson defeats the french fleet in the battle of the Nile, the situation between the recently returned Ross Poldark and George Warleggan is no nearer a conclusion. And things at home aren't much better for Ross, for Demelza is playing a very dangerous game with Lord Falmouth's nephew, Hugh Armitage. A ride on the cliffs, a stroll by the sea, a stolen kiss on the beach. All innocent enough, but how will Ross react when he finds out the truth? He'll possibly react in the same way as to the unwanted advances of that Regency dandy Captain Adderley, and settle the matter with pistols, at dawn. But Hugh Armitage is not long for this world, and by the looks of things, neither is Pascoe's bank, Ross's lifelong supporter. Who could be behind its demise? Who indeed?
