Playmobil is renowned for making high quality toys and this vintage passenger car is no exception.  Their products are often much sought after as collector's items for good reason as they are not only pleasing to look at but durable too, so they hold their value over a long period.  Sometimes what is most noticeable is the care and attention paid to small details, but often some important things go unnoticed.  This item is mostly made of plastic, as you might expect, however did you know that Playmobil incorporated metal ballast in the chassis of these cars to ensure their stability on the track?

The roof can be lifted off to gain access to the six seats inside, which of course are designed to accommodate Playmobil people.

The markings above each numeral "2" are "NON-FUMEURS".

This passenger would make an ideal addition to a garden railway as it can be left outdoors in all weather conditions.  This particular passenger car has been used outdoors for short periods consequently the upper surface of the fully detachable roof is very slightly discoloured (probably as a result of exposure to UV; see photo).  Otherwise, this passenger car is in excellent condition and doesn't appear to show any other sign of wear.
