Plans Hispano-Suiza Motor Aircraft 1914 V8 SE5a Sopwith
The magnificent Hispano-Suiza 150 - 300 HP 1914-1918 general arrangement and technical details drawings - 2 sheets of drawings full of dimensions and technical notes. Drawn 60+ years ago by W. A. Wylam 1947 and here supplied on CD for your computer.

During World War 1; the company designed and manufactured a series of unique and technologically advanced V-8 aircraft engines under the direction of M. Birkigt. Instead of machining separate steel cylinders and then bolting them to a crankcase, he used cast aluminum blocks into which thin steel liners were screwed. This made the engine much lighter, more rigid and easier to build. These Hispano-Suiza engines were the first of what are today known as "cast block" engines. The new designs also sported overhead cams, propeller reduction gearing and a host of other features that didn' t appear on most other engines until the late 1920s. Another major design effort was the use of a hollow propeller shaft to allow a gun to be fired through the propeller spinner, thereby avoiding the need for a synchronizer gear. This was adopted by both the Messerschmitt Me109 and later Focke Wulf Fw190 designs using the DB600 and Jumo 213 series engines. The sheets of drawings shown are in high resolution and in full colour - so high you can see the paper grain in the images. They are sized to fit onto A3 sheets of paper to be repinted from your home PC or at an outside plan printing bureau. The documents are both 99.5 MB when open. They will print larger or smaller as you require because there is plenty of resolution in the images.

They are useful reference documents for new 3D or CAD engineering model making or display posters for private use. We are here to help so feel free to contact us. This professionally produced CD is supplied in a polypropeylene case with cover art.
