Classic plan for Kamco “Kavalier” low wing sport plane 54” span Your chance to bid on the building plan for the original, classic, Kamco “Kavalier” low wing sport power plane. This model was designed by A L Ellis, and was kitted by Kamco (Knowles Aircraft Model Company) Ltd in 1973. It was a well respected sport model in it’s day, with a comparatively light structure, with good low speed handling and only requiring modest power units for good sport performance. Ideal as a first low winger, but nowadays a potential candidate for a good electric conversion ! The recommended engine range was 2 stroke 0.25cu in to 0.40cu in. The original publicity material described the Kavalier as ;- A compact and attractive low-winger with full aerobatic capability. It can be flown at low speed without the unpleasant characteristics usually associated with the smaller multi-model. The KAVALIER has sparkling performance using a 0.40cu in engine and using less power makes an excellent first low wing machine. THIS LISTING IS FOR A PLAN ONLY – YOU ARE NOT BIDDING FOR A KIT OR AN AIRFRAME This is a high quality black print on white, single sheet of standard A0 width paper. It will not fade in sunlight like the traditional “dyeline” prints or like cheap copies. The parallel chord wing and straightforward fuselage offers a “simple” build to those that enjoy some traditional balsa bashing. This simple build would suit novice builders from a construction point of view. This is a copy of the plan that was supplied with the Kamco Kavalier kit. It does not show full details for all formers, but these can be easily interpolated from the information on the plan. The fuselage is a basic box shape with a former & stringer turtle deck built on top of the rear fuselage. You could modify the former size to suit different powertrains – or an electric conversion. The wing rib detail is shown on a general section. This gives sufficient detail to plot all the ribs, which are almost all the same (being parallel chord) but some have slightly different notches for U/C blocks etc. This should not present a problem for a builder of reasonable experience, and is not beyond a novice builder taking care (and advice where necessary). The plan is drawn “full size”, with the wing panels (overlaid for LHS & RHS), fuselage, fin, rudder & stabiliser details.
THIS LISTING IS FOR A PLAN ONLY – YOU ARE NOT BIDDING FOR A KIT OR AN AIRFRAME If the model is built as shown on the plan it provides a four channel (Aileron/Rudder/Elevator/Throttle-or ESC ) control machine. I would suggest following the popular current trend of fitting one servo per aileron. This would enable the use of flaps if you have a computer radio. (Or would leave an option of a useful upgrade if you later went onto a computer TX). Treat yourself to a classic “retro” build project, and have the satisfaction of creating your own version of this British “Classic” sport power model at the fraction of the cost of an ARTF, or kit (You save money when you make all those parts – BUT it does cost your time ! WHICH can lead to more satisfaction as you have built the entire model “from scratch”). Bidding starts at £7.50. A copy of the build manual and copy of magazine kit review for the Kavalier will also be provided to the winning bidder. Overseas Postage will be £3.00 (Small Pcket Rate) for one plan, folded in large envelope |
