Synopsis
Despite the loving concern and interest of his parents, a young boy named Pierre won't say anything but "I don't care!" When his mother asks him what he wants for breakfast he answers, "I don't care!" When his father offers to let him fold the folding chair, Pierre replies, "I don't care!" Unable to motivate Pierre to care about anything, his parents head off for a day in town, leaving him alone in the house. That night, a hungry lion pays a call. When he warns Pierre "I can eat you, don't you see?," Pierre only says, "I don't care!" and so the lion devours him. When his parents return, they realize what has become of their son after they ask the lion "Where is Pierre?" and he answers, "I don't care!" Will Pierre's parents be able to save their son? And if they do, will Pierre even care? This funny look at the value of being fully engaged in life is illustrated with color pen-and-ink drawings.
