Large quarto, soft covers, 160 pages with colour and black and white photographs throughout. Text in English, Fench and German. An extremely scarce, out-of-print monograph on the important French architect and designer. This extremely impressive reference is packed with colour and black and white photographs of his buildings, furniture, lighting and interiors. Chareau was a leading figure at the birth of Art Deco and exhibited at the landmark Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris in 1925. The term Art Deco originates from the title of this exhibition. Later Chareau embraced a more consciously modernist style, after working alongside Le Corbusier on a famous commission for Jaques Lipchitz.
