Is your beloved old Pentax in need of some TLC?

The ME Super and related cameras are prone to age related jamming. Typically the mirror sticks in the raised position, and cannot be released, or the film advance lever cannot be operated. (Never try to force a camera in this state. You may cause irreparable damage!)

There are usually two common causes of this, one is due to deterioration of internal buffers, the other due to breakage of a non-essential part.

Both of these can be repaired without having to obtain new parts, and so are perfectly viable repairs.

In all cases the camera will not simply be un-jammed but the cause of the jam will be eliminated.

Please note: This repair only deals with the specific issue of an inexplicably jammed camera. It does not cover viewfinder cleaning, calibration checks, problems caused by damaged or worn shutters etc. It does not include light seal replacement or special cleaning etc. These areas are be covered by a complete overhaul or service which should be purchased instead.

*Important Proviso*

Please always contact me before buying this service. Some cameras may not be repairable, or may need extra parts. These will need to be purchased separately, or in some cases be unavailable. (At least at a reasonable price.)

Occasionally it is not possible to tell if a camera is economically serviceable before beginning work. Should it be judged that this is the case you will be contacted before any further work is carried out.

This is usually due to a part which is broken and difficult find or expensive to replace. In particular shutter assemblies. These can generally be adjusted, even though the official repair manual says they cannot, however this is not always successful, and the only solution is a replacement. Few parts can be sourced new these days, so often the only source is from scrapped cameras, some may be difficult to obtain. (Some owners already have a scrap camera which can be utilized if required. This may make a repair possible where otherwise it is not.)

If you decide not to proceed the camera will be re-assembled (If possible!) and returned to you. The service fee will be refunded minus a small charge to cover postage.

For UK destinations items up to 1kg are sent First-Class Royal Mail. Over this weight Standard Parcels is used. This is due to recent changes in postal pricing. First Class over 1Kg becomes more expensive than Standard parcels. Items over 2kg cannot be sent First Class in any case. (If you really want to pay extra for parcels in the 1-2Kg range let me know before paying. I will look-up the actual cost and add it to the postage.)

Shipping may be combined for multiple items, but this cannot be applied after payment has been made. If you have bought several items in the same working day please wait for your invoice.

Overseas packages are sent Standard Air mail unless otherwise shown. This is not available for parcels over 2Kg, and a different service must be used. As there is a considerable difference in the rates between the services be aware that combining some items may actually cost more than shipping separately.

Packaging and shipping methods are chosen to make sure that your item is delivered safely with as little cost as possible. We dispatch many packages to overseas destinations each year and so far have had no complaints, however if you have special packaging needs then please mail us before paying with your detailed requirements that we may calculate any additional cost, and invoice you accordingly. Once the item has been paid for this will not normally be posiible.

A note about insurance. In most countries the legal responsibility for ensuring goods arrive at their desination is the seller. Anyone who sells you extra insurance is usually selling you something you do not need. Any insurance I require to cover my loss is already included. You normally need not buy extra.

All items are sold as used unless otherwise stated in the listing, or it's title.
Used items may have minor defects commensurate with normal wear and tear, including minor functional defects. (Eg, a flash unit may be missing a test button.) Where such defects exist they will be described in text, or shown clearly in photographs.
For used items the pictures shown are photographs of the actual item for sale, and consitiute part of the item description. Where such defects are clearly shown they shall be deemed as described, and items may not be returned as unfit for purpose, or significantly not as described by reason of such a depicted defect. (The item may still be returned as 'unwanted' according to the terms below.)

We will not deliberately 'forget' to mention a significant defect in an item listed, and if the listing includes a guarantee we mean it. If an error has been made, we will try and rectify it as soon as is humanly possible.

We do not sell junk. Even used items sold for spares will have useful parts, other used items are repaired or reconditioned as necesary before offering them for sale. New items are...well new!

We believe out customers have a right to assume that the items we sell are in good working condition. If the listing does not describe a fault, or draw your attention to it, then you can safely assume there isn't one.

The cosmetic condition of an item may be rated Excellent, Very Good, Good, Average, Poor, or Very Poor. If this is not mentioned, assume Good!

Please note that while every effort is made to ensure the items are significantly as described, used items may have minor defects due to normal wear and tear not mentioned in the listing. Please be assured that such defects as may be found will not have any significant effect on the use or performance of the item.

Items are sold according to UK law under the Distance Selling Regulations (DSRs)as currently formulated and also under other laws  applicable to sales in the UK.

In addition the regulations and rules as set-out by eBay apply to all sales.

Buyers agree that they must bear the cost of returning unwanted items.

Returned goods must be in good order, and be returned with the packaging in which it was sent.
