The Pentax-A lenses are similar to the SMC Pentax-A range but without the SMC coating, instead having a conventional coating. However, it is not the budget Takumar-A. This 28-80mm has an A setting on the aperture ring and electrical contacts and is therefore useable without restriction on Pentax Digital SLRs. Don't forget the usual crop factor makes this a moderate standard to telephoto zoom. We tested this on the K10D last weekend and the results were surprisingly good so it is a viable lens for digital as well as film. The condition is nice and clean with good clear glass and smooth functions. I like these lenses as the low cost means they can be happily used in wind and rain without too much worry - they are relatively expendable.
