Hearts & Arrows Ideal Cut corresponds to Hearts & Arrows

In the early 90's, in Japan, ideal cut diamonds were all the rage. Cut grades of "Excellent", "Super Excellent", and "Triple Excellent" were much sought after. Ideal cuts with these grades were known to show the "Cupid effect", or a visual pattern of 8 hearts while looking down through the pavilion and 8 arrows when viewing the stone in the table up position. These diamonds become known in the trade as "hearts and arrows."

About German 316L Stainless Steel

316L Stainless Steel (the "L" stands for "low carbon") is the most common stainless steel alloy used for jewelry, as well as for surgical procedures (often called surgical stainless steel or implant steel). It never develops surface rust and is even resistant to constant salt water exposure. Most watches that are made of stainless steel are made of Type 316L. It can be re-finished by any jeweler and, unlike silver, will not tarnish and turn black. Many people prefer this material to titanium because of its luster. It is much more durable than gold or platinum jewelry, as it is very scratch-resistant, and is hypo-allergenic. 316 steel is used in the manufacture and handling of food and pharmaceutical products where it is often required in order to minimize metallic contamination.

316L Stainless Steel is easily cared for. To maintain the original luster, simply wash gently in clear water (or add a mild detergent, such as dishwashing liquid), rinse clean, and immediately dry with a soft cloth, such as a lens-cleaning cloth.

About Cubic Zirconia

Cubic zirconia (or CZ), the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), is a mineral that is widely synthesized for use as a diamond simulant. The synthesized material is hard, optically flawless and usually colorless, but may be made in a variety of different colors. Because of its low cost, durability, and close visual likeness to diamond, synthetic cubic zirconia has remained the most gemologically and economically important diamond simulant since 1976.

Cubic zirconia has a dispersive power greater than diamond (0.060 vs. 0.044), and the more prismatic fire of cubic zirconia can be seen by even an untrained eye.

Cubic zirconia has a rating of 8.5 to <9.0 on the Mohs' hardness scale (much harder than most natural gems) vs. a rating of 10 for diamonds.

Only the rarest of diamonds are truly colorless, most having a tinge of yellow or brown to some extent. By comparison, cubic zirconia can be made in most cases entirely colorless, equivalent to a perfect "D" on diamond's color grading scale.
