Patum Peperium The Gentleman's Relish pot
little stoneware pot with Pheasants on lid/Has some damage to lid as you can see in the picture, the base looks in good condition. It is marked inside the lid, especially commissioned by Elsenham quality foods limited as a container for patum peperium, The gentlemans relish, made to the original 1828 recipe. it measures approx 3.0cm tall x 5cm across base. Nice little collection piece.
The ingrediants were made made from anchovies, butter, herbs and spices.It came in small, crockery containers and was quite expensive, but a little went a long way.
