Panda teddy-bear, circa 1960
This is an unjointed bear, of unknown make but probably British, manufactured around 1960, seated with right forepaw raised to wave, firmly stuffed with wood-wool and with a pleasant, quite deep and tuneful bell inside him. He has a solid-coloured black back, amber and black glass eyes and an embroidered nose and mouth in good condition.
The black fur is short but rather woolly in texture, the white more silky. His fur is a bit grubby and is worn through in a few places, especially around the nose and on the sole of the right hind paw, but is generally in quite good condition.
He is coming unstitched in the fold where the right hind leg joins the belly. If preferred, I can mend this before posting him, but I have left it for the moment in case the purchaser prefers to repair him themselves.
On the one hand, he seems a bear of fairly ordinary quality, but on the other hand I haven't been able to find another one of these on the net, so he may be quite rare. He isn't terribly cuddly, because of the wood-wool, but he has a nice expression and a very pleasant bell.
