Pair of Georgian Sterling Silver Salts

Made in London, by Samuel Meriton, in 1764.

A Good Pair of Georgian Sterling Silver Salts.  Made in London, in 1764, probably by Samuel Meriton.  Two Circular Salts embossed with Floral Decoration.  Engraved to the underside P over I*A (rubbed on one).     

Condition:

The Marks:  Rubbed.

The Salts:  Good.  Both Sit Flat.  One has a tiny hole.  Both tarnished and with small dents.

Hallmarks:

  • SM
  • Lion passant
  • Leopards head
  • Date letter f                                        

Height:  One and a half inches             2.6cm 

Length:  Three and a quarter inches   8.3cm      

Collective Weight:     3.860ounces     109.4grams
