A  pretty Pair of George V1 Wedding Candle Sticks.

The design is Classic 40`s with square fluted bases and mitred square stems to a circular bowel top .

An elegant beautiful piece with Wedding personal inscriptions

The workmanship is fine quality and was made by the illustrious Britton Gould & Sons. Look at the photos and enlarge.

There is some ware generally but the markings are proud.

However there is some damage to one stick with the cup and a slight split to one base and crease to the stem.See the photos.

The pieces are inscribed Wedding Gifts.

I think this does not take away the beauty of these pieces so please look at the photos.They can present well.

The bases are match marks are hallmarked Lion Passant ; anchor for Birmingham; and "Q" for 1940.

The Silversmith is marked "B.G& Co" for the highly celebrated Britton, Gould & Co who worked from 1928 to 1940 from their workshop in Hatten Gargens ,London which is one of the best sources of good quality silver pieces.

This is clearly one of their finest pieces as it was the last year of production.

The total weight which is weighted is an amazing 669 grams or 23.60 oz

The dimensions are base 85 mmX 85mm and height 260 mm.

In all, a beautiful and elegant pair of acndle sticks  are of good high quality , fine  manufacturer which would enhance any collection or just put on show.
