BLUEBELL "ENGLISH" 200 Seeds Native English Bluebell Flowers are dark violet-blue occasionally white or pink, drooping at the tip, and have a rich scent. Bluebells are tolerant of most soil types, and although often seen in full sunlight, they prefer to be in partial shade under deciduous trees or shrubs. Be very careful of offerings for bluebell seeds, unless confirmed from a managed genuine uncontaminated source. All our seeds are hand harvested and dried from managed English ancient woodlands and are confirmed as pure English Bluebells. Hgt 20- 50cm Flowers April to June.
· Sow between Jul and January, under trees, shrubs or in the shade of a southern wall, either in earth or grass. · Prepare the patch by lightly scarifying it, i.e. to create a shallow broken surface. · Seeds sown late winter can be heavily chilled for 1-2 weeks in a fridge/freezer ‘vernalized’ as occurs naturally in winter to enhance germination. · Sprinkle evenly at a rate of 50 seeds per square metre, and lightly rake into your prepared soil. · In the first year from mid spring you will see grass-like shoots that are darker green and thinner than normal grass. · The following year will see stronger plants until they mature and flower in the third year. Germination IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY - Please note seed is a live product which depends on many important related grower skills such as proper planting time, seed depth, type of soil, watering, proper use of fertilizers, weed controls, fungicides, insecticides, disease free soil, and reasonable weather conditions during the growing period. Germination is affected by such factors as temperature, moisture content, light intensity and contamination of planting media. Although we do everything possible to get seeds to you in the best possible condition far exceeding legal requirements and will provide as much help as possible, these factors are totally outside of our control and once you receive the seeds its over to you. Consequently, we can take no responsibility for the suitability to your local conditions of any variety offered, the indicative cultivation advice provided or ultimately the varieties performance. As such you should seek local advice to carefully ensure your local conditions and the time of season are appropriate to the variety purchased.
