ORIGINAL WW1 PRINCESS MARY CHRISTMAS BOX. A gift from the nation to all British troops serving on Christmas day 1914, paid for by Mary the 17 year old daughter of King George V and Queen Mary. Originally the box contained cigarettes or chocolate. The box is made of brass, 12.5cm by 8.0 cm by 2.8cm with adouble skinned hinged lid, embossed with a profile of Princess Mary's head. The edge has roundels with the countries allied to Great Britain. Condition is good with no warping, although there is one minor dent to the back and it has been cleaned.
