Once again an intriguing Moche fineline vessel. With marcial and religious references on the stirup with the stepped decoration and war paraphernalia. The interesting details are the two lizards which are forward looking, as the head is not on the stirrup but in the air and separeted. The whole body is in relief and the legs are shown as holding from the vessel. Another interesting detail are the three deities presented on the body of the object. Many scholars like to think the finelines, more than war statements, were dancing rituals. I think this vessel somewhat manifests that. All three figures are larger than normal and are elegantly dress, with feathers coming out of the back and headdress. In this case there are no snakes coming out of their bodies and even though they are holding weapons they also have stombulous shells present, probably meaning music. Also, the body language seems to make reference to greetings, hence the shells, as the one leg bends and the head are down, not in an agressive posture. The clothing is quite astonishing as the feathery decoration.
