This is an unusual set of auto extension tubes, made by Pentacon - the manufacturers of Praktica cameras - in the former East Germany. They're suitable for all screw thread Praktica SLR cameras, and have the company's innovative electric meter coupling for full aperture metering with suitable Praktica LLC, PLC, VLC and EE cameras (see below).

They fit between your SLR camera and lens for extra close focusing (macro) shots, up to 1:2 (half life size) or even better! Two tubes are supplied - 12mm and 25mm deep, and they can be used singly or together. The longer the extension used, the closer you'll get. They're ideal for all sorts of close ups.

With a 50mm standard lens, both tubes will get you to greater than 1:2 (half life size). This is as good as some dedicated macro lenses (and better than most macro zooms), filling the frame with a subject around 33x50mm (1.3x2.0 inches), and is ideal for photographing many small objects such as coins, stamps, insects, etc. Even greater magnification is available with wider angle lenses (around 1:1 with a 35mm). Longer lenses offer lower magnification, but more comfortable working distances.

The tubes retain the fully automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering systems of the original camera and lens combination (where appropriate), so are fast and easy to use, with no extra manual procedures required. Compatible with metered manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes where available. TTL metering systems will take care of the required exposure correction automatically.

These Pentacon tubes are nicely made, lightweight with plastic barrels and metal lens mounts, and a high standard of fit and finish.

The tubes are in fully working order, with all linkages working correctly. Cosmetically there is only the usual evidence that they've been used, including some surface scratches and other marks, plus some paint scrapes around the screw mounts and contacts.

Overall, they're in perfectly good "user" shape!
