GOLD CONNECTOR SERIES - GPS POWER & DATA CABLE

A Power and PC serial data transfer cable for Garmin eTrex (yellow) Camo, Legend, Mariner, Summit  (HC), Venture (HC), Vista or eMap, Geko (201, 301) GPS models. The cable powers the GPS from the car 12 volt cigarette socket and enables navigational data connection to a Laptop/PC to obtain positional information using the latest moving map software. Your GPS will have a 4 pin socket at the case top rear. This cable is for PCs that have a RS232C Serial or COM Port.

Use with AeroPlanner, Anquet, EasyGPS, Mapsource, Memory Map, Microsoft Autoroute, Fugawi, Track Logs etc. to manage Waypoints, Routes, or Maps and for live navigation.

NOT suitable for new Garmin Legend or Vista C (Colour) GPS that have a USB Port only. (see below)

A USB cable version is available that replaces this cable for PC/Laptop USB A socket connection supplies GPS power. Or you can use a short length USB to COM Port Converter cable with it. See our eBay Shop or contact us for info.

Within the cigarette lighter adapter casing is a Motorola voltage regulator that outputs a constant 3.3 Volts for the GPS unit. The Car plug itself contains an easily changeable fuse. Cables are 5 foot and 6 foot long - Car plug to GPS and PC respectivley.  

This cable also supplies 5vdc for an iPaq or similar PDA. An adaptor cable would be required (DB9 to PDA or other device). No other GPS cable functions this way. 

Every contact pin is GOLD plated for best connectivity - including all 3 contacts on the cigarette lighter plug and the small DB9F PC connector includes 9 gold plated pins.

Will NOT plug into a USB Port found on many new PCs/Laptops. You will need a USB to COM Port Converter unit in such cases. A 4 inch (10cms) length USB to Serial Converter cable is available in our eBay shop or Contact Seller for advice.

NOTE: You can use this cable for data transfer from the GPS to PC without the Car plug connected to a vehicle power supply (12 volts).
