POOLE POTTERY 1950's RD PATTERN SHAPE 978 CHEESE DISH

This lovely 978 shape cheese dish is decorated in the pretty RD pattern

The lid has the pink glaze common to pieces made in the early 1950's and the factory marks include the impressed Poole England stamp in use from 1930 to 1996 but I can't identify the paintresses mark

 The base is 6" (15cm) diameter, the lid is 5" (12.5cm) diameter and overall it is 2.75" (7cm) high.

Both the lid and base are crazed as is so common in pieces of this period.  There is also some staining to both pieces which appears common with cheese dishes, probably something to do with Dorset Blue Vinney!  Otherwise it is in undamaged condition and will make a fine addition to your collection or super gift
