POLLOK SINCLAIR NISBET, was born in Edinburgh and was the elder brother of Robert Buchan Nisbet, another well listed artist. He painted landscapes and town scenes in oil and watercolour. He travelled widely in Italy, Spain, Morocco and Algeria, and worked in venice in 1873 and c. 1881. He also painted Scottish lochs and glens, but his best works are his watercolours of lively Arab or Venetian market places and buildings in the Mediterranean sunlight. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1892 and Member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour in 1881. He died in Edinburgh in 1922. He exhibited 165 works at the Royal Scottish Academy, 119 at the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour, 69 at the Glasgow Institute and 21 at other Galleries.
