Fine: A perfect copy, like new

Near Fine: A near perfect copy with only minimal wear or flaws.

Very Good: An above average copy with minor wear, folding or tears. Pages overall are supple and white, but may have minor tanning in spots. May have markings or highlighting (markings are usually noted in description).

Good: An average copy. May have significant wear, folding, tearing, brittleness, tanning, marks or highlighting.

Fair: A below average copy. May have serious wear, folding, tearing, brittleness, tanning, pages missing, torn out, staples missing, detached pages or cover. In some cases may have minor or minimal water staining, but no mold or mildew. Issue is complete unless otherwise stated. Does not have more than a few pages missing; usually the first or last pages, or the center pages. Sections of pages or cover may be missing.

Poor: Severe water damage, mold, mildew, severe brittleness or tanning, large sections missing from the book or from individual pages or cover, heavily marked on, severe wear to cover or pages, badly folded or rumpled pages.
