A BEAUTIFUL PIECE WITH FLORAL ENGRAVINGS MADE BY ROYAL SALANGOR IN 1986.

Due to KL's tin mining past, various pewter products remain popular as souvenirs, and a miniature model of the Petronas Twin Towers is probably the definitive only-in-KL gift. Royal Selangor remains the world's largest pewter producer and has stores all over KL.

Founded in 1885, the company has a workforce of more than 600 skilled craftsmen. The Royal Selangor factory is reputed to be one of the world's largest. During the 18th century, items were mainly incense burners and candle holders for the oriental market. With the British colonials, the offering expanded to tankards, ashtrays and even tea services. The brand was then known as Selangor Pewter.

This is a lovely solid pewter trinket box by Royal Selangor with an intricate filigree design on the removable lid and on all four sides of the box.  The inside bottom of the box is lined in burgundy velveteen.  The Royal Selangor mark is carved on the bottom of the box.

On the lid it is engraved “KUALA LUMPUR XVI COMMONWEALTH GAMES 1986”

Beautiful piece, excellent condition.

Measurements: 2.7” or 7 cm wide, 1.8” or 4.5 cm tall.
