A hanging basket in the porch or balcony, a tub on the patio or perhaps a pot of herbs outside the kitchen door gives enormous pleasure to everyone. For flt-dwellers a window box can transform a room with the sight and scent of summer flowers.

By doing it yourself you can both save money and choose your own favourite planting schemes to give colour all year round.

Helen Biddlecombe and Harry Smith of TV Gardening fame show you how to select your plants and make a variety of baskets which include a traditional summer basket, a herb basket, a strawberry basket and winter baskets with pansies, ivy and crocus.

How to construct a simple window box and some useful tips on fixing, safety and planting schemes. A look at basic techniques for filling pots and containers plus some advice on the composts, feeding and general care.

A video is the best way to learn - watching the expert actually doing the job while describing how and why. Play it again and again until you are absolutely sure you know how to do it yourself, then go out into the garden with confidence - to enjoy yourself!
