About The Hand Warmer
The Peacock Hand Warmer (Standard Size) is a fantastic little hand warmer that is very economical and stays toasty hot, about 140 to 160ºF (60 to 70ºC) for up to 24 hours on just one filling. The Peacock Hand Warmer unit is designed to be reused 1000’s of times, so it is constructed out of nickel plated brass. Its slim design is lightweight and compact.
The Peacock Hand Warmer runs on any of the liquid lighter fuels (Lighter fuel is similar to unleaded petrol, but is a lot cleaner since it has been refined, and does not have the added chemicals that help make your car run smoother). You can at a pinch, of course, use unleaded petrol, although this comparatively dirty fuel will significantly reduce the life of the burner head, however, the burner head is easily replaced.
The lighter fuel is burned using, special, Platinum-catalyzed glass fibre gauze, which enables 100% of the fuel to be burned without smoke, soot or other pollutants. The ingenious Peacock Hand Warmer produces a warm, safe-burning heat by evaporating the lighter fluid and then catalytically reacting it using the special Platinum-catalyzed glass fibre gauze with oxygen. It works in a similar way to a car’s Catalytic Converter, which neutralises, by burning off any unburned emissions from your car’s exhaust. This makes the Peacock Hand Warmer an environmentally friendly heater.
The newly developed platinum-catalyzed glass fibre gauze burner offers quick and sure lighting and will give constant warmth for a full day on just one 50ml or 2fl oz. fill of fuel.
The Peacock Hand Warmer is useable even in the most extremes of cold weather, down to minus 40ºC, and produces 5 times as much heat as a disposable hand warmer. Thus it is far more economical and consistently warmer than any disposable heat packs or charcoal fuel hand warmers on the market. One standard size bottle of lighter fluid (133ml) will refill one Peacock Hand Warmer approximately 10 to 15 times

How Does the Peacock Hand Warmer Work?
The Peacock Hand Warmer works by heating up the Burner or combustion chamber with a match. The Burner contains a small wad of Platinum gauze, the Burner Element, which acts like the Catalytic converter in a car. The heating of this gauze, with the match, starts a catalysed combustion process. The combustion process is never under pressure, does not combust with a live flame and cannot burn or set light to anything by accident; you might say that it is a passive combustion system. Once the process is activated you place the heat guard over the combustion chamber and place the whole unit into a small cotton bag and then place the unit into a pocket etc.
The heat that is generated, by the catalysed combustion process, heats up the fuel that is soaked in a cotton wool pad, similar to a Zippo lighter, which converts it into a vapour. The vapour passes through the platinum gauze catalytic converter, which generates heat and heats up the catalytic converter, which in turn heats up the fuel, which turns it into a vapour, etc., etc., etc. At no point is there a live flame involved in combustion of the vapour, except to initially start/heat the catalytic converter.
How do I turn the Peacock Hand Warmer OFF after use?
Since the Peacock Hand Warmer does not have an ON/OFF switch, tuning it OFF is accomplished by, one of the following methods:
1. Starving the hand warmer of oxygen.
2. Removing the Burner unit off the Warmer Body (Fuel Tank), which would starve the Burner Element of fuel, (Warning it will be hot).
3. Or you could just let the hand warmer run out of fuel, since it uses only a tiny amount to fill the fuel tank up.
How do I get Spares for the Peacock Hand Warmer?
Spares for the Peacock Hand Warmer; you probably won’t ever need them unless you use the hand warmer every day. The only thing that will ever need replacing is the Burner Element, which contains the Platinum gauze, this should last at least year, even if the hand warmer is used every day.
