| A matched pair of George III heavy gauge Old Sheffield Plate shallow bowl sauce boats. Gadrooned edges with upswept pourer and with acathus capped flying double scroll handle. Raised on three small shell and hoofed feet. Circa 1780. No makers marks or hall marks present as it was made illegal for a period to mark Sheffield plate, although a number 21 stamped to the foot indicates the assay office at which they would have been presented. 17cm width plus handle. Copper is showing through to the inside of one bowl where some rough abrasion has revealed the thickness of the silver plate. No damage or indentations. Shipping from UK.
