These are classic goblets which measure four and a half inches tall (4.5 ins / 11 cms) and each weighs four and a half ounces (4.5 ozs / 125 grams) of hallmarked sterling silver (total 9 ounces or 250 grams). The base measures two and a quarter inches in diameter (2.25 ins / 5.5 cms) and the lip measures almost two and a half inches in diameter (2.5 ins / 6 cms). These fine goblets are in splendid condition with no damage or repairs.
The hallmarks shown above are the maker’s mark “FH” in two triangles for the noted firm of F. Hawker, Ltd., the anchor with “cc” the historic town mark commemorating the bicentenary of the Birmingham assay office, the lion passant guarantee mark for English sterling silver, and the letter “Y” the Birmingham date letter for 1973.
