PAAR JUGENDSTIL VASEN LEGRAS MONT JOYE

You are looking at / bidding on a stunning pair of large ART NOUVEAU AVENTURINE ("CHROMAVENTURINE") GLASS VASES attributed to the firm of Legras & Cie. Mont Joye, France, made around 1890/1910.


Auguste Jean Francois Legras started his company in 1864 by taking over a other glass factory at St. Denis, Paris. In 1897 two other companies were taken over. In1900 the production of Art Nouvau ( Jugendstil ) glass and first cooperation with René Lalique started. During 1914-1918 the factory was closed through worldwar I, but from 1919 the company started up again. The Legras company used different types of signature, like Mont Joye, Legras, Legr., etc. which were often only painted on and have disappeared over time.


Green glittering aventurine glass with enamel decoration. Unsigned.


Height ca. 10 3/8 inches (ca. 26 cm), largest diameter ca. 5 1/2 inches (ca. 14 cm)


Very good condition, some light wear due to age, gilding and enamel decoration rubbed in places, some very faint writing in gold on one the vases, no chips or restorations (please see photos).


I am selling this rare pair with a modest reserve, so don't miss out !
