PYROGRAPHY: A very early artform that involves burning an image onto wood or leather by hand initially done by hot pokers though now mostly carried out by using a small machine with varied fine metal tips heated to a temperature of between 200 / 400 degrees farenheit. This particular image is burnt onto a beech placque with a diameter of 25cm and a thickness of 1cm and protected with 4 coats of clear lacquer.

Because of the nature of the artform the time taken to create such images can be up to 20 hours.

The artist (Miss Teri Bailey) ensures that the wood she purchases is from managed English forests.
