This auction is for the 3rd edition of the Ordnance Survey map of Roman Britain published in 1956. It covers Military Sites; Towns and other Communal Settlements; the Countryside; Funeral Monuments; Industry and Mining; Communication, ie. roads and canals; Aqueducts; Lighthouses; and Theatres and Amphitheatres. Altogether there are 43 pages of text, page-size maps and topographical index. The main part of this publication a very large, high quality full-coloured map of Roman Britain. The map shown here is just a small part of the region and is shown to illustrate the quality of the maps in this publication.
Altogether an excellent reference for those studying the period. It is in very good condition with all the pages intact and unmarked and the maps are very good indeed. |
