What is MiKo LXD Gen5 ? To answer this question, let just say that you want to create a Professional Computer-based recording studio. So you bought a High specification Desktop PC with Quad Core Processor 2.66GHz, 3GB RAM and 1000GB. Then you decided that you want to get a touchscreen 15 inch monitor. And you also bought a 37 keys keyboard for MIDI control. And then you decided to get a First class Audio Interface with phantom power, Class A Pre-amp and 24 bit analog/digital conversion, so you paid £270 to get a Presonus Firebox. Needless to say, you need a DAW to get you going, so you paid £146 and installed REAPER. Then you are looking into adding some VST instruments and effects. You also decided that you want high quality piano sounds, so you paid more than £130 to buy 4Front Technology Truepianos. You also paid more than 165 euro to get Lennar Digital Sylenth as you needed some nice synth sounds. You then also paid a few hundred pounds to get more sounds and effect for your studio. You also realised that you have many other sound presets that you like on your OASYS / Motif XS / Fantom G and are looking for a way to include them in your setup without actually keeping them, so you installed a Keyboard presets cloning software called MiMik that worth £130 so that you can clone your favourite sounds from all your other keyboard and permanently included in your setup so that there are all in one place. A few days later, you decided that you want to ease your recording process, so you bought some control surfaces with sliders, knobs and buttons so you can record more intuitively without the need to click all the time. You also get a nice drum pads Bump MP for use with GURU to create tracks. A few days later, you had to do a live performance and you wish to bring a keyboard on stage, and magically you managed to carry your whole recording studio created above without using any Van. You easily play your tune on stage using Karsyn, a software rack module that is optimised for live performance. And the whole setup I just mentioned above is MiKo. In other words, MiKo is a computer and keyboard hybrid workstation based on Windows Operating system (XP Home) and Open Labs is the company that produces them. Miko combimed the best of both world - hardware based keyboard + software based DAW. The main selling point is the concept of All-In-One that you cannot get with other keyboard or Desktop or your laptop. They have a forum for user discussion and support http://forum.openlabs.com/ For support, you can call / email Open Labs. They are also known for having useful customer service. You can also have a live chat with them now via their website www.openlabs.com. If you have software related problem, open labs can help by Remote desktop, meaning they can log into your MiKo and fix your problem when you are thousand miles away. For details on softwares on MiKo LXD http://www.openlabs.com/mikolxd-software.html Personally I think this is the only complete all-in-one recording workstation you can find in the market. (I had owned OASYS, Motif XS & Fantom G) It is also customised for live performace or gig, using the software called Karsyn that is very intuitive to use in live situation. You can use DAW in studio setting to write your song. MiKo will cost at least £3800 to get one (freight cost plus VAT). Currently cheapest MiKo LXD in Europe cost £3800 at a Germany online retailer. There is currently no reseller in UK. Open Labs have a representative in UK though. If you want to see Miko LXD in action, go to Youtube. If 37 keys are not enough for you you can always add a cheap USB 76 / 88 Keyboard. And if the screen is not big enough for you, you can add your own extrenal monitor. Want to use mouse to navigate? No problem. All the controllers (knobs, sliders etc) are upgradable as Open Labs is constantly coming up with new one. Very soon KARMA OL software developed by Stephan Kay will also be available for this MiKo for free. If you use Korg product, you probabaly know what KARMA can do. _________________________________________________________________________ Item condition: Unused & like New.
