DESCRIPTION: An extremely rare Tibetan Rug 100 years old ( circa 1900), hand knotted with 100 knots x Sq inch. made of pure wool and dyes absolutely with vegetable and mineral pigments, NO Synthetic colours are used in this rug. This is really unique and we guarantee you won't find another rug with same design and size. An examination of the threads is often enough to tell wheter a hand-knotted carpet was made in a village or a city workshop. Up until about 1770, all yearns made from cotton, wool, hemp etc were handspun. The component hairs and fibres were joined by hand and twisted into a thread by a hand-turned spindle. Obviusly there were variations both in the thread's diameter and the amount of twist. For this reason the thickness of the knots varied considerably. Machine-knotted carpets use yarns of identical thickness for the warp, the weft and the knots, so that the weave appears absolutely even and parallel. Please check carefully our pictures so that you can see for yourself the quality of this rug.
SIZE: 4 feet x 2 feet- 47 x 23 inches- 120 x 59 cm.
CONDITION: The carpet is clean and in absolutely perfect condition with full pile, intact borders and selvedges, no holes, stains or odors.
