Old pewter plate with three winged cherubs .

One cherub is painting, the other two are watching. There are tools at their feet and one is sitting on curled manuscripts.

It has a mark on the back....which I've photographed upside down, it's a crowned rose. I don't know whether the plate is French or English as pewterers imported their metal from England then adopted the same mark to show where the pewter came from.

It has a brass type stand fitted which could be removed.

Measures 24cm (9½") across.

 

I'm away until the 13th November and will try to answer any questions during my holiday but there may be a bit of a delay, so please be patient.
