Ayr's growth both as a market town and as a focus for foreign trade is easy to understand. It was protected by a Royal Castle, was situated at a convenient crossing point on the River Ayr and was able to build a safe harbour at the river mouth.                                                                     48 pages thick with written captions for the pictures Stenlake publishing.


In good condition throughout except first page has been written with pencil and then rubbed out left an indentation.
