OX300 STERN TUBE LUBRICANT OIL seawater resisting 22kg

 This is an unopened, unused 22kg drum (approx. 20-25Litre) of OX-300 STERNTUBE LUBRICANT. it is ex. naval stock and manufactured by Vickers of Leeds. Product data sheet as follows:

A viscous, mineral based lubricating oil.
used as a sterntube lubricant particularly where a n0n-circulatory oil feed system is used with compression or face type sterntube seals. Particularly recommended for use where there is the potential for water contamination of the lubricant to occur.
Appearance, dark green oil.
Shelf life: expected indefinite in original sealed containers.
Designed specifically for sterntube lubrication and provides a very high standard of lubrication under both the boundary and hydronamic lubricating conditions encountered in a sterntube.
Compatible with the metals commonly used in sterntubes and provides excellent corrosion protection.
The oil will absorb any sea water or fresh water entering the sterntube to form a viscous emulsion which remains stable and therefore reduces the risk of free water being present in the sterntube. the emulsion maintains a very high standard of lubrication and corrosion protection properties.
The oil and emulsion have good adhereance to metal surfaces, resisting wash off by water.
The use of OX-300 will often minimise the rate of any oil leakage past a damaged or worn aft seal.
Not recommended for use with rubber lip type seal systems.
