This antique linen supper cloth has some really ornate drawn threadwork which must have taken a considerable time to complete. Measuring approx 39" x 40", the incredible drawn threadwork is in bands - one at the hem edge with spider's web corners, then a 3.1/2" deep band with large spider's web corners, and finally an inner band, similar to that at the hem edge. Amazingly all the ornate work appears to be quite sound, but there is a tiny hole in the linen, which is indicated by the red arrow on photograph 3 and also close by another spot where the linen has started to thread, so it is not perfect by any means but is still a stunning display piece. It has been laundered and lightly starched.
