Description
Our shea butter is carefully and gently stirred as it crystallises to give a creamy texture. It is cream to white in colour with the mild, nutty fragrance of the shea nut.
Used for centuries in its native Africa, Shea butter is rich in nourishing vitamins E, A and F giving it natural healing and anti-inflammatory properties and making it a superior treatment for very dry or chapped skin.
Shea butter is easily absorbed and gentle enough for face, body, babies, elderly and those suffering from highly sensitive skin.
Shea butter is solid at room temperature, melting at 35.5 degrees in tune with your body. To use rub a small amount of the semi-solid butter between your palms until it melts before applying to the skin. Remember, a little goes a long way!
Environmental Information
Karite trees, from which the Shea is extracted, grow naturally in the African savannah. As such they help support the natural environment, protecting it against drought. They require no fertilisers, pesticides or irrigation. A product truly in harmony with its environment.

Nail Care
Shea butter forms a protective barrier over the skin as well as having natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and parasite fighting abilities which makes it excellent to use as a nail and cuticle treatment.
Rosacea
Rosacea is the reddening of the skin, most often on the face, due to the small blood vessels dilating and rising to the surface. Whilst medical treatment should always be sought, shea butter can help in reducing the symptoms of this condition leaving skin looking less red and inflamed. It reduces inflammation, helps the skin to heal, and deeply moisturises.
Premature Ageing
Keeping skin properly moisturised is anybody’s first and most important defence against the signs of ageing. Shea butter contains high levels of vitamin A to help promote cell regeneration and fibroblast activity as well as vitamin E, a powerful natural anti free radical agent that helps to prevent the formation of wrinkles
Eczema and Psoriasis
These conditions need to be treated in a holistic manner taking into account diet, stress and exercise levels however shea butter can be of great benefit as a complement to other treatments. We have many clients who have found that she butter has markedly improved the look and feel of skin affected by eczema, psoriasis and other skin irritations, reducing inflammation, dryness and itching. Shea butter not only deeply moisturises, naturally penetrating the skin, but also contains high levels of plant sterols which are natural anti-inflammatory
Sun Damage
Shea butter has a naturally occurring UV absorber which provides an SPF of about 5 and the high levels of vitamin E, an anti free radical agent, reduce the ageing effect of the sun.
Shelf Life and Preservation: Our organic shea butter has a shelf life of 12-24 months. To maximise its life we recommend storing it in its amber glass jar to protect from sunlight and keeping in a cool dark place. Try to avoid melting the shea butter repeatedly.
I am often asked if this shea butter is of the same quality as that provided by L’occitane. I am not party to their specific information on the grade of their shea butter or its exact sourcing (they would be mad to tell me this information!), however I can say that customers who have moved from this brand to ours have been very happy with both quality and price.
